ANNUAL REPORT – 2016-17
As we approach to the end of this academic year and our 28 years of service towards providing quality education since our inception in 1988, I take this opportunity to thank the Almighty Lord for his abundant blessings and guidance from our patron, parents, students, teachers and well-wishers.
There is a great saying: “Real education fetches you more than a job. It teaches you to live. It cannot be measured in any tangible way.
Two and a half decade have gone by and today Sevaniketan stands on the thresh hold of a new path trying to integrate all contemporary technologies to provide a full-fledged education to its students.
The Academic session began on 21st of May.
I congratulate the students of class X for their performance in the CBSE Examination. Out of 41 students 11 students secured 10 point CGPA and 11 students between 9 and 10.
World Environment day was observed on 6th June 2016.School President Ln. Sanjay Srikantiah was the chief guest. A student rally was organized to create awareness on environment with a Bulletin Board display.
Leaders are born but their qualities have to be nurtured at school. To instill a sense of responsibility and belongingness among the students, the new leaders for the academic year 2016-17 were installed on 18th June. School President Ln. Sanjay Srikantiah installed the new team.
World population day was observed on 11th July. A bulletin Board display was organized on the theme “The Earth beyond 2030”.
Independence Day was celebrated on 15th August. Mr. Mallesh, Circle Inspector Crime Branch Mysore was the Chief Guest. He inspired the students with the living experiences from the life of great people who have sacrificed their life, and also emphasized to inculcate certain habits for a disciplined life. Students presented a colorful field display and ended with a patriotic dance
Teacher’s day was celebrated on 5th September. The teachers were honored by the management.
Lions Quest an inter school quiz competition for high school students was held on 17th Sept, 15 schools participated in the competition.
Fancy-dress competition was conducted for nursery classes,
A through General Health Checkup for all the students and staff was conducted by a team of doctors from ESI hospital lead by Dr. Jevoor.
Open day was conducted on 22nd October, School President and School Secretary Inaugurated the event. Nearly 600 exhibits were on display. The Department of Education requested our projects to be displayed at Govt. School Ashokapuram. Nearly 3000 school children from various state schools witnessed the exhibition and was well appreciated by the public.
Career Guidance for classes IX and X was held by Ln. Mukund on 6th November.
Annual Sports Meet was held on 11th and 12th of November. Prof. Thirumalai Gopalan, Retired Professor from Department of Sports, University of Mysore inaugurated the Sports meet.
Club President Ln. Dr.Venu was chief guest for the valedictory function.
Hindi Week was observed from 14th sept to 19th sept. Various activities were held to mark the celebrations.
On 14th November Children’s day was celebrated.
Library week was observed from 14th Nov to 20th Nov. various activities were held as a part of the celebrations.
Kannada Rajyothsava was celebrated on 30th of November
To recognize various talents of the students, monthly literary activities were conducted. I thank the lion ladies who have extended a helping hand to judge the events.
The Central Board of Secondary Education has been very dynamic and is trying various means and measures to prepare students to face the global demands of the 21st century. Staffs of Sevaniketan has been a key leader in the introduction of CCE system in the school and has been a resource Centre for various schools in and around Mysore.
Teacher Development Programme:
To keep ourselves updated with the change in the curriculum, the methodology of classroom transaction and assessment pattern Centre of Excellence CBSE, Kochi and Mysore Sahodaya organized a series of Capacity Building workshops in all the subjects. All the teachers attended the workshops and have been implementing the ideas in their classes.
Workshops were also organized by Oxford University Press, Saraswathi Publication, Madhuban Publication and innovative learning center Bangalore.
All the teachers also attended a 6 day computer training session organized in the school.
The School feels proud and keeps in records the students who have brought laurels by participating in various competitions conducted by different organizations, in and around Mysore.
Kavya panikar of class 8 was awarded by mithubushi Japan for her painting in the international painting competition
Kalpana Kutappa,Smrithi and Deeksha devangi gat qualified for the national level in Skating .
Manish G of class X got Qualified to the National level in Tennis.
The awards list in the daily assembly programme speaks about it and they have been featured in the school magazine.
Academics: Formative and Summative assessments were conducted as per the schedule in the school calendar.
Parent Orientation programmes
A series of Parent orientation programme were held to help parents to understand the new pattern of education, the responsibilities of the parents and their contributions in grooming their child.
Various personality and adolescence development programmes were held to bring awareness among the students.
As on today we have 80 students studying in our school under the RTE scheme.
