ANNUAL REPORT – 2017-18
Good Evening one and all,
Honourable Chief Guest Dr.Manjunath , Respected Club President Ln. Jacob Thomas Paul School President Ln. Manoj Kumar, School Secretary Ln. Sukumar, School Treasurer Ln. Surendra Hegde, Lion members, Lion ladies, Parents, Staff and Students.
On behalf of Mysore West Lions Sevaniketan School I stand here and take great pride in presenting the ANNUAL REPORT for the year 2017-18
As we approach to the end of this academic year and our 29 years of service towards providing quality education since our inception in 1988, I take this opportunity to thank the Almighty Lord for his abundant blessings and guidance from our patron, parents, students, teachers and well-wishers.
There is a great saying: “Real education fetches you more than a job. It teaches you to live. It cannot be measured in any tangible way.
Two and a half decade have gone by and today Sevaniketan stands on the thresh hold of a new path trying to integrate all contemporary technologies to provide a full-fledged education to its students.
The Academic session began on 22nd of May.
I congratulate the students of class X for their performance in the CBSE Examination. Out of 44 students 08 students secured 10 point CGPA and 11 students between 9 and 10.
World Environment day was observed on 5th June 2017.School President Ln. Manoj Kumar and school Secretary Ln.Sukumar were the chief guest. A student rally was organized to create awareness on environment with a Bulletin Board display.
Leaders are born but their qualities have to be nurtured at school. To instill a sense of responsibility and belongingness among the students, the new leaders for the academic year 2017-18 were installed on 17th June. School President Ln. Manoj Kumar installed the new team.
International Yoga Day was Celebrated on 21st June .
World population day was observed on 11th July. A bulletin Board display was organized on the theme “Save the Earth”.
Independence Day was celebrated on 15th August. Brig. Murthy was the Chief Guest. He inspired the students with the living experiences from the life of soldiers at the frontiers and borders of our country who are constantly safeguarding our nation from external forces and people who have sacrificed their lives for the country. He also emphasized to inculcate certain habits for a disciplined life. Students presented a colorful field display and ended with a patriotic dance
Teacher’s day was celebrated on 5th September. The teachers were honored by the management.
Hindi Week was observed from 14th sept to 19th sept. Various activities were held to mark the celebrations.
Fancy-dress competition was conducted for nursery classes, I thank the Lion Ladies for their support in judging the event.
An Interaction with Mathematics Genius Mr.Basavaraj from Athani was held on 28th October. Students and teachers interacted with him on concepts of memory and practice to improve in mathematics.
Open day was conducted on 17th October, School President and School Secretary Inaugurated the event. Nearly 600 exhibits were on display.
Kannada Rajyothsava was celebrated on 8th of November
Lions Quest an inter school health and wellness quiz competition for high school students was held on 12th Nov, 08 schools participated in the competition.
On 14th November Children’s day was celebrated. Teachers presented a variety programme for the students
Library week was observed from 14th Nov to 20th Nov. various activities were held as a part of the celebrations.
Annual Sports Meet was held on 17th and 18th of November. H.N.Hemalatha Indian Volley ball Coach, South Western Railways Mysore inaugurated the Sports meet.
Club President Ln. Jacob Thomas Paul was chief guest for the valedictory function.
To recognize various talents of the students, monthly literary activities were conducted. I thank the lion ladies who have extended a helping hand to judge the events.
The Central Board of Secondary Education has been very dynamic and is trying various means and measures to prepare students to face the global demands of the 21st century. In this venture after the introduction of CCE it felt that the quality of students has come down and hence to improve the quality it has reverted back to the old system of exam pattern.
Teacher Development Programme:
To keep ourselves updated with the change in the curriculum, the methodology of classroom transaction and assessment pattern Centre of Excellence CBSE, Kakkinada and Mysore Sahodaya organized a series of Capacity Building workshops in all the subjects. All the teachers attended the workshops and have been implementing the ideas in their classes.
Workshops were also organized by Oxford University Press, Saraswathi Publication, Orient Blackswan ,Madhuban Publication and innovative learning center Bangalore.
The School feels proud and keeps in records the students who have brought laurels by participating in various competitions conducted by different organizations, in and around Mysore. Around 200 students have brought in laurels during the year 2017-18.
Apart from Education Sevaniketan also provides platform
Kavya panikar, Kushi Gangatkar ,Pranav V, and a number of students won prizes for their painting in the various competitions.
Kalpana Kutappa, Smrithi and Deeksha devangi got qualified for the national level in Skating.
Large number of students brought laurels in karate at district and state level tournaments.
The awards list in the daily assembly programme speaks about it and they have been featured in the school magazine.
Academics: Tests and Examinations were conducted as per the schedule in the school calendar.
Parent Orientation programmes
A series of Parent orientation programme were held to help parents to understand the new pattern of education, the responsibilities of the parents and their contributions in grooming their child.
Various personality and adolescence development programmes were held to bring awareness among the students.
As on today we have 100 students studying in our school under the RTE scheme.
It has been a year with lots of changes in the academic front and we have been able to update ourselves to the changes.
Today 608 children are going to enthrall all of us with their cultural show and make this event a memorable one.
The members of the management have been very pro-active and are in the process of developing the school into a center of excellence.
The year has been a hectic one with challenges and opportunities; I feel that my team has performed to best of their ability.
To sum up I thank my management, staff and parents for their co-operation at every point of time and expect the same support in our future endeavors.
