Co-curricular Activities

MWLSS believes that what goes on outside the classroom is as important as what goes on within it. Our regular academic timetable is therefore complemented by a variety of co-curricular courses, clubs and activities.

Co-curricular activities like sports, music, art and debate are essential to develop an all round personality. This applies whether the child is an actual participant or is assisting and observing on the sidelines. Being involved in these activities offers multiple benefits—it helps youngsters discover their latent talents, opens new avenues of interest, creates team spirit to collaborate and fosters self-esteem, motivation and academic success.

Our students are given ample opportunity to participate in inter-house and inter-school competitions, to showcase their talents at school functions.

Sports

sports are obviously an important part of our school life. With two experienced Physical Training instructors, a band master and excellent sports facilities the school tries to provide its students scope for developing their sports aptitude.

Other sports facilities include facilities for individual and group sports, including football, volleyball, basketball, throw ball , kho-kho and  badminton

Athletics are also trained with spaces for track events, jumps and throws.

Art and Performing Arts

Rich in history and cultural tradition, arts play an important role in education—both for their intrinsic value and their ability to enhance the overall development of a child. Exposure to music, and visual arts enables personal, social and intellectual growth. It also provides space for new ideas and feelings and improves cognitive capacities and motivations to learn.

MWLSS, co-curricular activities in this sphere include art and craft, music, dance and theatre. These are conducted as group activities, rather than on an individual basis. School outings to the theatre and places of cultural and historical interest are organised regularly.

Karate classes are also conducted after school hours.

House Systems

Probably nothing symbolizes the schools spirit more than the excitement and challenge inspired by competitive events. At MWLSS these events are linked to sports, academics, arts, debates, elocution…and many  more things .

Children are placed in one of the school’s four ‘Houses’, each of which is named after  the great builders of modern India NEHRU,INDIRA,GANDHI and TAGORE

This heralds the start of a school-long loyalty and commitment to the House and its members. The result is a sense of collaborative team spirit of the highest order.
